What can be done if you have a chipped tooth?

It depends on where it’s located in the mouth,

Front of the mouth:

  • Option 1: Cosmetic bonding when it's in the front of the mouth.
  • Option 2: A large break on a front tooth may require porcelain crown or veneer.

Back of the mouth:

  • Option 1: Sometimes a smaller chip in a back tooth can accept tooth colored filling.
  • Option 2: When the chip or break is large and it involves a cusp of a tooth, it needs to get a porcelain restoration .
  • In many cases the tooth can be saved or restored through procedures such as veneers or a root canal treatment.
  • If extensive damage has occurred your dentist may recommend extracting the tooth, but this is only done in extreme circumstances.
